Grading & Classroom Expectations

How grades work, and what's expected in class

Grades are simple by design: you earn points every week for showing up ready to work and for the quality of what you turn in. Here's exactly how it breaks down.

Grading

Weekly Points

Every week is worth 10 points total, split into two categories below.

10
points possible
every week
10 pts × ~10 weeks
≈ 100 points per quarter
5 pts

Presence & Behavior

Full 5 points for being present and following classroom expectations. Points are reduced for things like cutting class, being on your phone, or other classroom rule violations (see below).

5 pts

Assignment Quality

Based on the work you actually turn in that week, scored using the scale below.

  • 5 Good work
  • 4 Max grade for late work
  • 3 OK / incomplete work
  • 1 Poor work
  • 0 No work turned in
Late work is always accepted - turning something in late is always better than not turning it in at all.
